    The Happiest Club in School

I overheard two girls talking the other day in the bathroom and they were gabbing it up about some Glee show and some nonsense about singing and dancing, and I thought, boy do you have it all wrong. Glee isn’t some silly television show. Glee is finding that Easter egg out in the yard with chocolate in it from the year before or finding this incredible present in front of one’s locker from a guy in Biology one has never talked to. But Glee is even more than that, Glee is a club and it’s made its way to RAHS.

Glee Club, advised by Mr. Todd Cherney, meets every Monday morning, bright and early, at 6:30 with smiles plastered on member’s faces. Glee members gather in a circle and sing songs from the Sound of Music with two favorites being, “Climb Every Mountain,” and, “My Favorite Things.”  Then members chant, “We will be happy, we are Glee. We will be happy, see you, see me.  We will be happy, we are Glee. We will do good for all to see.” After cleansing their souls with goodness, Glee Club members get down to business. With brainstorming activities, Glee members think of incredible, gleeful activities that can be done around RAHS.
So what merits a gleeful activity? Let me just tell one some incredible activities Glee Club has already done around RAHS. First, let’s start with the bathrooms. Glee Club members make it their mission to make sure all toilets are flushed with no remnants left behind. I think one knows what we mean. Of course if there are inappropriate comments scribbled on the bathroom stalls, Glee Club members make sure to cover them up with bright, yellow smiley faces.

Members make sure everyone’s day is as bright and cheerful as theirs. If someone is looking a little down in the dumps, Glee Club members take it upon themselves not to just offer a kind word, but a friendly hello and a big bear hug. Glee members have also been sighted skipping through the halls, throwing daisies at passerbys. They’ve even been known to throw cookies, with the best intentions.
So forget that silly show on TV named after our club.  Consider joining us on some bright Monday morning with a cheerful grin and positive attitude. If one has a little bit of the girl scout in them, they might consider spreading the glee one can only experience in Glee Club.
